Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (OLOLRMC) which was established in 1923  is the largest private medical center in Louisiana, with 763 licensed beds.  In a given year, OLOLRMC treats approximately 25,000 patients in the hospital, and serves about 350,000 persons through outpatient locations with the assistance of almost 900 physicians and 3,000 staff members.

OLOLRMC recently opened a 10-bed neurosurgical-trauma intensive care unit and has trauma physician coverage 24/7.  A Mobile Virtual ICU allow hospital intensivists to simultaneously monitor critical patients throughout OLOLRMC's multiple ICUs on a 24/7 basis from a centralized location. Also, OLOLRMC is the only hospital in the region that provides neurosurgical services on a 24/7 basis.

OLOLRMC’s  Children's Hospital opened its doors in 1945, just in time for the nation's baby boom era. Today, as part of the largest private hospital in Louisiana, The Children’s Hospital at OLOLRMC offers comprehensive pediatric services few facilities in the region can match.

The Lake also operates two nursing homes, has an affiliated cancer facility adjacent to the main hospital, and operates a number of outpatient services on its campus as well as in outlying locations.

The Critical Care Medicine Service was formed with full-time intensivists providing round-the-clock coverage for the intensive care units.
