Research Resources

Research support and collaboration opportunities are provided by the main LSU campus, which is rated by the Carnegie Foundation as a Level I Research University.  The LSU Department of Experimental Statistics also provides services in support of our research efforts.  The Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a 223,000 square foot facility that was created through a $125 million gift to LSU.  The Pennington Center offers a wealth of opportunities to collaborate with over 350 physicians, scientists, and support personnel who conduct research.  The Center is funded through an annual appropriation from the State of Louisiana and by grants and contracts from the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Defense.

The Center for Primary Care Research located at EKLMC offers assistance to residents and faculty with project development, data collection, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.  Residents are encouraged to participate in ongoing research conducted by the Center faculty.  The Center also distributes information to residents regarding grant funds for residency research and available research training seminars.

Additional research support and collaboration opportunities are provided by the LSU Medical School, the LSU School of Dentistry, the LSU Neuroscience Center of Excellence, the LSU School of Allied Health (which includes Cardiopulmonary Sciences, Communication Disorders, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Human Development Center, Occupation Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Rehabilitation Counseling) and LSU School of Nursing.  EMRP and EKLMC faculty have conducted projects with researchers at the Center of Primary Care Research, the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices (CAMD), and the Centers for Disease Control.
