Residency Program

To Apply

Our residency program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) .

The Dean’s Office at your medical school will assist you with the ERAS Application process. Paper applications will not be accepted.  For more information with regards to ERAS it can be obtained at http://www.aamc.org/students/eras/start.htm

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • ERAS Application
  • Dean’s Letter
  • Medical School Transcripts
  • Three Letters of Recommendations  - At least one letter must be from an Emergency Medicine Physician
  • Personal Statement
  • Medical Examination Scores (USMLE)
  • Photo

The Dean’s Office at your medical school will process your Dean’s letter, transcript and letters of recommendation. The National Board of Medical Examiners will process your Medical Examination Scores.

The deadline for your application to our residency program is November 15th. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

Resident Eligibility and Selection    
Our residency program selects applicants on the basis of their preparedness, ability, academic credentials, communication skills, and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity. Our program does not discriminate with regard to sex, age, religion, color, national origin, disability or veteran status.

Our resident selection criterion conforms to the guidelines of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) outlined in the ACGME Institutional Requirements.

All residents must meet and maintain the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners requirements for a permit/intern card for physicians in training or unrestricted medical licensure.  www.lsbme.org
