Graduate Medical Education in Baton Rouge

These are exciting times for Baton Rouge-based graduate medical education programs. The future is bright, with strong partnerships with Louisiana State University School of Medicine, Earl K. Long Medical Center, Pennington Biomedical Research Center, private hospitals in the Baton Rouge area and the L.S.U. School of Veterinary Medicine. Baton Rouge General Medical Center, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, and Woman's Hospital have forged alliances with the LSU School of Medicine and Earl K. Long Medical Center to provide great learning experiences for residents training in Baton Rouge.

An ongoing relationship with LSU's main campus, located in Baton Rouge, allows us to draw upon both the basic science expertise there, as well as at Pennington Biomedical Research Center, L.S.U. School of Veterinary Medicine and the Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices. This integration, together with the ongoing clinical research at Earl K. Long Medical Center and other local private hospitals offers challenging new academic opportunities for our training programs.

The Baton Rouge-based graduate medical education programs in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecolgoy, and Family Practice enhance the many medical resources found in the Baton Rouge community. Also residents from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, oral surgery, ophthalmology, pediatrics and dermatology rotate at Earl K. Long Medical Center
