Didactic Curriculum

The guide for our didactic curriculum is the Model of the Clinical Practice of Emergency Medicine published in the Annals of Emergency Medicine, June 2001. In addition to clinical experience our residents are expected to attend the weekly Emergency Medicine Conferences and Lectures Series. These conferences and lectures are held on Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the Emergency Medicine Residency Classroom located in the Emergency Medicine Residency Program Education Center on Earl K. Long Medical Centerís campus.

Conferences and lectures are presented by emergency medicine faculty, staff from other specialties, emergency medicine residents, as well as local and national guest speakers. A conference schedule is posted in the Emergency Medicine Residency Program Offices. All Emergency medicine residents are expected to attend a minimum of 70% of the Emergency Medicine Conferences and Lecture Series.
